We’ve been thinking a lot about the little things that we can do every day to make a difference. Maybe it’s not earthshattering, but over time, it can add up to a lot. One easy change for us was the lightbulb for a new product idea. We were thinking about how to decrease the amount of trash we created, after reading about all these people that were trying to live an almost zero-waste existence. By the way, most of these people seemed to be single with no young children in sight. In searching for a realistic, easy change we could make, we came across the data that if everyone used one less disposable napkin a day, more than a billion pounds of disposable napkins would be saved from landfills every year. Clearly, usingĀ cloth napkins could save a lot of trees. Fortunately for us, cloth napkins are an easy change to make, not requiring us to go to extremes such as sacrificing toilet paper. We’ve been using our cloth napkins at home and out and about in our lunchboxes and snack bags. The organic cotton, cloth napkins haveĀ also been a big hit as hostess gifts and party favors (people appreciate them more than the little plastic toys that usually goes home with the kids). Maybe mika&bu won’t be the key to solving global warming, but if we can get a few people every week to change one little habit, we can help make a difference.
